How Did We Become Vivid Squid Wholesale?

I do not think any of us will forget the pandemic that was COVID-19. It seemed like endless months dipping in and out of lockdown with restrictions everywhere you go. It gave us plenty of time to reflect upon ‘Global Designs’ after over 40 years of importing & distributing home décor & giftware.

Throughout 2020-21 we were facing huge challenges importing as the world attempted to open its retail sectors. The cost of raw materials, packaging and labour continued to rise sharply. It didn’t stop there… next came the ‘Shipping Crisis’ as freight rates sky-rocketed by over 700% with difficulty obtaining space on ships laden for the UK becoming a regular problem. This combined with already extended lead times from factories made it increasingly difficult to keep up with customer demand & expectation.

The way that we do business is forever changing and to help conquer some of these problems we decided to invest into our own inhouse UK production facility.

Now, the possibilities are endless! We have the facilities to print an enormous variety of designs on multiple materials in a range of shapes and sizes. As well as personalised features from text to pictures. These are all things that we hope to develop over time in our expanding collection.

We intend to support as many up-and-coming independent artists & designers as possible, bringing their works to life on our products. These creators get paid a royalty on every piece sold.

Therefore, we felt it was time for a company rebrand. We wanted to be named something that reflected our new direction and featured printing. Along came…VIVID SQUID! Our inky fellow became the perfect representative for our new venture.
